IICA Belize Participated in World Food Day 2018

On October 19, 2018, the National Food and Nutrition Security Commission in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Forestry, the Environment, Sustainable Development and Immigration, The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, and the World Food Day Committee observed World Food Day under the theme “OUR ACTIONS ARE OUR FUTURE. A #ZERO HUNGER WORLD BY 2030 IS POSSIBLE” at Julian Cho Technical High School in the Toledo District. The World Food Day Program of activities featured a variety of ethnic food dishes from Belize, displays of various types of locally processed foods and meats, cultural presentations, commercial and agricultural displays and other activities promoting food and nutrition security, to help spread awareness and appreciation for the various contributions of agriculture to our Belizean culture.  The Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture had a display booth for information sharing, highlighting the ongoing European Union funded banana project as well as providing information of the technical cooperation methodology of the Institute.
