    In recognition of his contribution to promoting the ideals of the Institute as well as his personal commitment to the development of agriculture and rural areas in the Americas.

    An Argentinean psychiatrist and businessman, Sigman is the founder and CEO of Grupo Insud and founder of Chemo, a global pharmaceutical company with 14 industrial plants, more than 4,000 employees, and a presence in more than 40 countries.

    Mexican Senator and Chair of the Senate’s Committee on Science and Technology. She is a member of the Committee’s on Foreign Affairs; Agriculture; Livestock; Fisheries and Rural Development; Education and Migration, as well as of the Bicameral Committee on National Security.

  • Jens Mesa Dishington

    EIICA Goodwill Ambassador in Sustainable Development Issues

    In recognition of his contribution to promoting the ideals of the Institute as well as his personal commitment to agriculture, food security and the equitable and sustainable development of rural areas in the Americas.

    An agricultural economist, Dishington has served as the Executive President of the National Federation of Palm Oil Growers (Fedepalma) of Colombia since 1989. He is regarded as a tenacious modernizer of the agriculture sector in his country. Fedepalma has supported Colombia’s agricultural and rural policies on contract farming, the strengthening of institutional mechanisms that guarantee safety in order to boost international market access, and the strengthening of institutions related to agricultural development in rural areas.

  • Susana Balbo

    IICA Goodwill Ambassador in Gender and Rural Youth Issues

    In recognition of her contribution to promoting the ideals of the Institute as well as her personal commitment to agriculture, food security and the equitable and sustainable development of rural areas in the Americas.

    Balbo, Argentina’s first female oenologist, has operated her own winery, Susana Balbo Wines, since 1999, and is internationally renowned for the quality and charm of her products. In December 2015, she assumed the position of national representative for the province of Mendoza in Argentina. She resigned to dedicate herself full-time to her coordination duties within Woman 20 (W20), the G20 engagement group for women.
