In the field of agricultural technology, an important phenomenon of cooperation among countries and sectors has taken place in LAC, which distinguishes it from other continents of the world. The actions of the PROCIs in collaborative research, training, information, transfer of technology between institutions, and institutional development, among others, have permitted important technological achievements, with great economic returns on the investments in cooperative research. The countries have developed and consolidated "a culture" of reciprocal cooperation that provides an important foundation to advance toward technological integration, in support of the processes of economic openness and commercial integration.
