During a meeting in Costa Rica, the countries harmonized their stances prior to the General Session of the World Organisation for Animal Health, to be held at the end of May.
“As a peaceful, democratic country with no army, we prioritize peaceful solutions to conflicts, diplomacy, and the tools afforded by international law and multilateralism”, said Manuel E. Ventura Robles, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Costa Rica.
Joint actions will be undertaken by the Institute and the Chilean International Cooperation Agency for Development following a meeting between authorities from both organizations.
The Director General of IICA, Manuel Otero, witnessed the signing of the agreement with the Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA) of Panama, which will launch the country’s Agricultural Master Plan for the Western Region. The plan will initially benefit about 15,000 agricultural producers and will receive funding from the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF).
IICA’s actions in 2018 enabled producers in Dominica to resume their activities and increase their climate resilience.
The Director General of IICA, Manuel Otero, participated in Central America’s primary agricultural forum in Honduras, along with scientists, business executives and NGO representatives, who discussed the outlook for the agriculture sector. The event was inaugurated by the President of Honduras, Juan Orlando Hernández.
