University of California, Berkeley - College of Natural Resources
The general objective of this agreement between IICA and the University of California, Berkeley is to promote two-way learning, scientific exchange and innovation in the fields of sustainable agriculture, rural development, environmental management and collaborative leadership.
The overall purpose is to build capacities of students, faculty, researchers, and senior professionals in both BERKELEY and IICA to better the lives of rural peoples throughout the Americas.
The areas of cooperation include:
1. Contribution by BERKELEY to the continual professional development of IICA staff.
2. Identification of joint research topics and initiatives to promote: · trade and the competitiveness of agricultural and livestock agribusiness; · the strengthening of rural communities, including human health and education; · the promotion of agricultural health and food safety; · the promotion of sustainable management of natural resources and the environment; · the promotion of the incorporation of technology and innovation for the modernization of agriculture and the rural development;
3. Exchange of staff between IICA and BERKELEY in pursuit of the above training and research objectives.
