IICA's Representative in FONTAGRO participates in
FONTAGRO's XV Annual Meeting of the Board of Directors
October 6th, 2011 - Dr. Priscila Henriquez, IICA's representative in FONTAGRO participated in the XV Annual Meeting of FONTAGRO's Board of Directors, Panama October 4-6. FONTAGRO is comprised of 15 countries in Latin America and Spain. Since 1998, this mechanism has carried out more than 30 research projects to benefit small farmers, producing many new technologies of relevance for the small farmers, including 15 innovations new to Latin America and 4 new to the world.
The FONTAGRO Board of Directors discussed advances made in the current research projects carried out between consortia from research institutions of the member countries. Also in the discussions were the new financial strategy, strategy for new partnerships, evaluation of FONTAGRO mechanisms, and the call for proposals for 2012.
IICA and IDB reiterated their support for this unique mechanism to strengthen regional collaboration on agricultural research and innovation for Latin America.
Dr. Henriquez is currently providing project follow up, preparing the evaluation of research projects and contributing to forge new partnerships and promotion of the Fund.
