We are delighted that you have taken the time to visit us, to learn more about the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) and in particular our work here in Jamaica.

The Office's staff works closely with the Ministry of Agriculture, its agencies and the many local and international stakeholders involved in Jamaica's agricultural sector. Partnerships are key to the success of the primary areas of our focus:

1) Agribusiness

2) Agro-tourism

3) Technical agricultural information

To assist us in accomplishing these, the IICA Jamaica Office has positioned itself as the "partner of choice" for executing projects funded by donor agencies. We believe that our ability to work in collaboration with donor agencies is a fundamental element of who we are and is a win/win partnership.

In adddition to the above we place significant emphasis on our work with youth and women in agriculture. Our annual "Youth in Agribusiness" awards recognize the entrepreneurial spirit, potential and success of the country's youth. In addition we are currently exploring helping young professional farmers to establish their own association. As well, our ongoing and long-standing relationship with the Jamaican Network of Rural Women Producers (JNRWP) shows our commitment to helping women in agriculture.

As we continue to deepen our working relationship with stakeholders we will continue to rely on our highly dedicated and talented staff team to help develop Jamaica's agricultural sector to reach its full potential.
