IICA’s Executive Committee held a productive regular meeting

Delegations from 17 countries attended the Regular Meeting of the Executive Committee, four of them headed by the respective Minister of Agriculture.

Calls for joint effort to combat food crisis

The crisis sparked by rising food prices provided the backdrop to the Twenty-eighth Regular Meeting of the Executive Committee, held 22-24 July at Headquarters.

Fourteen Member States took part in this year’s meeting of the Executive Committee. On the first two days, the sessions took place at the Institute’s Headquarters; on the third, the delegates met at CATIE.

Looking ahead to Jamaica 2009

The Executive Committee met in the Costa Rican town of Turrialba in order to learn about the intensive program of joint work being carried out by IICA and CATIE.

The Executive Committee was informed of the progress made by the Summit of the Americas process in the field of agriculture and rural life, and the preparations for the Fifth Ministerial.
