The purpose of this mandate is to provide small- and medium-scale agribusinesses in the Americas with information they need to take advantage of trade opportunities on local, regional and international markets. To this end, the following and other actions have been implemented:
Infoagro/Agronegocios
The Infoagro/Agronegocios information system was created as a tool for disseminating information on the Program’s activities. It provides access to the agrifood import requirements of the United States, Canadian and the European Union markets, relevant market news and the major sources of information and documents related to agribusiness.

Agribusiness Series. Export Handbooks
Program activities to date have made it possible to identify needs apparently shared by operators of small- and medium-scale agribusinesses in the Americas. These needs have been grouped into “priority topics.” The analysis of these topics is published in what is known as the Agribusiness Series. The purpose of this publication is to make the small- and medium-scale agribusinesses in the Americas more competitive. One section of the Series, entitled “Export Handbooks,” is aimed at sharing concepts and ideas that will be helpful to those entering the international market for the first time in making decisions.
Participation in Trade Shows
The Program organizes, and promotes the participation of groups of enterprises, in agrifood trade shows for the purpose of identifying potential trade contacts and learning about market trends.
Participants can benefit the program in three ways: participating as speakers, participating as visitor or sending samples of their products.
Trade Missions
This involves arranging business appointments with potential clients, based on the product in question the type of client requested by the firms that receive this service. Furthermore, participants visit wholesale markets, supermarkets and specialty stores, and attend meetings with representatives of government agencies responsible for enforcement of import requirements. The trade missions are aimed at enterprises with products ready to export.
Market Analysis Studies
The purpose of market analysis studies is to identify business opportunities. The information analyzed includes: varieties currently available on the market, monthly and annual imports figures, major suppliers, market windows, prices, distribution channels, and admissibility requirements. This information is complemented with interviews with potential buyers to determine their interest in given products. These studies are conducted to meet the specific needs of companies that participate in the Export Platforms or in the trade shows and missions organized by the Program.
