| The Office for Follow-up of the Summit of the Americas Process (OSCU) is the unit at IICA which, in its capacity as Secretariat of the Ministerial Process "Agricultural and Rural Life in the Americas” in the context of the Summit of the Americas Process, has responsibility for coordinating the work of the Institute (Headquarters and Offices in the countries). In so doing, the OSCU works in two parallel processes with the other units at IICA Headquarters and the Offices in the countries: |

Continuity of the Ministerial Process
To support the continuity of the Ministerial Process (through support for the Ministerial Meetings and the Meetings of GRICA as well as the implementation and follow-up of the Hemispheric Ministerial Agreements). |

Linkage with the Summit of the Americas Process
To facilitate coordination of the Ministerial Process and the Summit of the Americas Process, which brings together the Heads of State and Government of the Americas (participates in the bodies of the Summit Process, such as SIRG and the JWGS. |

In view of the foregoing, the efforts of the OSCU are focused on the following: |
- Contributing to consolidation of the hemispheric leadership of IICA as Secretariat of the Process and the Ministerial Meeting "Agriculture and Rural Life in the Americas";
- Supporting the units of IICA in their assistance for the countries in implementing the mandates on agriculture and rural life of the Inter-American Summits and agreements of the ministerial meetings;
- Contributing to consolidation of the role of IICA as an institutional partner in the Summit of the Americas Process; and
- Supporting the Director General in reporting to the Inter-American Board of Agriculture (IABA) and its Executive Committee on the presidential mandates and the ministerial agreements on agriculture and rural life and progress achieved with their implementation.
